I take back defending the goose...that thing came flying at me today with it's mouth open. I had to make a detour...TWICE. psycho.

The goose that laid the golden egg.

Geese are scary. Bottom line. I know this because I am staying in a place where the geese are plentiful. And very protective of their female geese laying eggs. A few short feet away from my parking spot, there is a goose that has been laying on a pile of mulch that looks very much like a throne for the past few weeks. She hasn't budged--besides opening her mouth when you walk by. However, there is another goose, I think the overprotective male goose, that stands guard 95% of the time, within a 5 foot radius of the sitting goose. The first few times I walked by the goose, I noticed that he would walk towards me, opening his little mouth and sticking his tongue out a little. This is much scarier than it sounds...now I try to make as wide of a space between me and goose as possible, and usually have to do a little jog to pick up the pace.

Recently, I saw an older man walking by making the same wide jogging loop. I don't think he meant for anyone to see, and he said, "That thing was sticking it's tongue out at me." Oh I know buddy. It's creepy.

On sunday, 2 girls were trying to ride their scooters around the plantation, but they couldn't get much further than the parking spaces. They asked me if I worked there...I said no but that the goose was mean.

I was feeling a lot of negative thoughts towards the goose until last night. Some kids thought it was funny to throw their soccer ball at the geese. Each time, the scary goose would come flying at the ball and push it out of the way. That's serious protection. Seriously though, its not cool that the goose thinks an innocent passerby is going to do something to his girl, but really, let's not provoke him kids!

Enough about the goose. I'm off for a run, in a goose-free zone. ;)
