DeSSert

I think my first blog being about dessert is very appropriate considering my love and lack of control for all things sweet. Tonight I met my roommate EB for dinner at a Thai restaurant.  Dinner has sort of been a big deal ever since I've been living in Charlottesville, or more specifically Eve's basement.  It's hard to complain since we have a ton of space, plenty of hot water, perfect location, great roomie; however I think I could say there are 3 main downfalls...
1.  Huge standard size poodle that sounds more like a dog pulling a sled at all hours of the day, has really long clicky toenails, gets into the yard a chases deer, sneaks into the basement and rips up plastic bags/chocolates.
2.  It's plenty warm inside if you wear your winter coat + gloves + scarf + socks + slippers + blanket + breathe hot air onto your nose.
3. And most importantly...we have no kitchen.  We have a "dugout" as we like to call it which is a glorified closet with a minifridge, microwave, extremely sketchy toaster oven that sits on an even sketcher wicker stand...you get the point...

So anyway, EB and I have been exploring what Charlottesville restaurants have to offer.  The Thai place tonight was delicious.  And I'm not a food critic so that's all the details I'll give.  After dinner, it was definitely time for something sweet.  It has been way to cold for ice cream, and we thought maybe the kroger bakery, although no Ukrops, would have something.  What I was really craving was a piece of cake.  Random.  We walked into Kroger...found the baker section...and what do you know...sitting in the clear plastic case (which I usually expect to find holding olives or cheese samples) were at LEAST 10 pieces of cake...FREE?!?!  You better believe it.  Have you ever seen a free sample of pre-cut sheet cake?!  So perfect.  I even had enough self control to hold it the whole way home so I could eat it with a fork.  It's the little things ;)

Life's short...eat dessert first.
